They’ve all helped to improve United since then but Neville is fully expecting Mourinho to continue shaping his squad over the next two windows including the upcoming one this January.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday night, Neville said: “It’s a pretty good run [in the next four games]. Sunderland and Middlesbrough at home, away at West Ham and then a simple one at Liverpool!
“I think Jose Mourinho will want to do big business in the next couple of transfer windows.
“I think to shift the mentality of the whole squad he’ll still need to do some more [business].”
I’m in the same camp as Neville because I do expect United to have a busy couple of years as Mourinho brings in more players he wants and I think, more importantly, letting go of those he doesn’t deem good enough at United.
Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof is the player being most heavily linked with a move to United in January while Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin are both now expected to leave on either loan or permanent deals. United are certainly not expected to be completely quiet in January.
Mourinho’s side are starting to come together now after a rocky start to life at United but a crucial step in bridging the gap which clearly exists between us and Chelsea at the moment is correct recruitment. Neville thinks that could well see a busy January at Old Trafford, we haven’t got to wait long to see if he is right.
