West Ham United are desperate to find a striker capable of helping them climb up the Premier League and will make an ambitious enquiry to take either Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial on loan from Manchester United, according to reports.
Chelsea are reluctant to allow West Ham’s top loan target Michy Batshuayi to leave in January and they have been forced into considering other options.
There’s a slim chance that Mourinho will let either Rashford or Martial to leave Old Trafford in January, even though both players haven’t been performing as well as expected.
Rashford has been deployed on the flank to accommodate the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Man United, as the big Swede has made the striker role his own due to his impressive form, with 10 goals in his last nine games.
Although West Ham would be willing to allow Rashford to play down the middle, it won’t be enough to convince Mourinho, who has made good use of his services out on the wing.
Martial has not started in either of United’s last two games and has struggled with form under the Portuguese boss, but letting him go could be a big mistake, as we saw against West Ham in the League cup, where he scored two goals in a 4-1 win.
Ashley Fletcher is already playing as a striker at West Ham and even though a reunion with Rashford could be sought after by the Hammers, it’s a highly ambitious move which Mourinho will most likely decline.
