It was recently reported that Slaven Bilic, staring down the barrel of a relegation battle, was desperate to draft in either Rashford or Martial on a loan basis to bolster his wilting attack.
The pair of youngsters enjoyed sensational opening seasons at Old Trafford, but have struggled to breach the starting XI in recent weeks.
According to ESPN‘s Peter O’Rourke, Jose Mourinho will not offload the pair to the East London side over the January transfer window.
It was somewhat inevitable that, following explosive opening campaigns, this season would be slightly muted in comparison for both Martial and Rashford. People can easily forget that these are still youngsters – always learning, making mistakes and improving.
Under Mourinho, however, alongside the superb influence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the pair inhabit a good environment. Martial, it must be said, has struggled to replicate the blistering menace displayed so regularly last season, but performances against the likes of West Ham and Fenerbahce served as important reminders of what the Frenchman fan do.
Rashford, on the other hand, has impressed on a regular basis this season. Those sensational, match-winning moments haven’t occurred as frequently, but the 19-year-old – deployed primary as a winger under Mourinho – has been indefatigable in his approach, always looking to impose himself regardless of circumstances.
