Manchester United fans were left furious with referee Lee Mason after a dreadful display from him against Sunderland.
Mason wrongly disallowed Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s opener in the first half for a high foot even though it was an absolutely fair goal from the Swede.
You can tell just by angry United fans were by the reaction to the decision:
Lee Mason needs his eyes tested or to stop cheating Manchester United!! pic.twitter.com/Qzml8PWXIm

Absolutely appalling decision by Lee Mason in ruling out Ibrahimovic's clever finish.

Not just content with one woeful call, Mason then didn’t give a penalty when Marcus Rashford was manhandled to the ground after skipping past his defender with skill and pace.
Fortunately for United, goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba meant those awful decisions by Mason didn’t affect the outcome of a game we deserved to win but something really has to be done about these terrible referees.
At what point does a referee become accountable for his actions? Players are retrospectively banned for bad fouls which were incorrectly not punished during a game, why does the same law not apply to referees?
