Matt Le Tissier believes Jose Mourinho has taken Manchester United back to their impressive displays that have been missing since Sir Alexi Ferguson retired.
Man United cam back from a goal down in the closing minutes of the game to beat Middlesbrough late on at Old Trafford, with goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba securing all three points for Mourinho’s men.
After a disappointing start to the campaign, they sit only a off fourth place in the Premier League and have done a brilliant job of closing the gap.
Speaking about the side, Le Tissier has praised the side for taking him back to Fergie’s era.
“It was a little bit like going back 15 or 20 years at Old Trafford, when they used to be 1-0 down with five minutes to go and they’d just throw the kitchen sink at the opposition, pouring forward in numbers,” he said.
“Once the first one went in, you had an inkling the second was probably going to come pretty soon.
“For a while at Old Trafford you never saw the cavalry charge if they were losing or even drawing games but that was like watching the Manchester United of old.
“Anthony Martial was outstanding today, absolutely outstanding. He played out on the left-hand side and he gave Calum Chambers a torrid time. He was a real thorn in Middlesbrough’s side all game and it was probably right it was him who got United back in the game with a terrific finish.”
United deserved to win against Middlesbrough, completely dominating the game throughout, but could have easily left Old Trafford with nothing.
They will learn from their mistakes moving forward and hopes are United can maintain their brilliant form and continue to close the gap in the Premier League.
