The 20-year-old has made nine appearances since being sent out on loan to the Primera Liga side back in August.
Sam Johnstone will be given the chance to leave the club on a loan basis this month, with Aston Villa leading the race to secure the Englishman’s services.
And as a result Pereira will return to Old Trafford in the following weeks to assume the position as third choice keeper under Jose Mourinho.
This was Pereira’s first experience of playing top division football and he would have developed immensely as a result. His only loan spell prior to his move to Portugal was a brief stint at League One side Rochdale, where he made eight appearances in all competitions.
At Belenenses, however, he experienced first team football at a completely different frequency. He made his first start against Benfica – a genuine European superpower – before going on to secure a place in WhoScored’s Liga NOS Team of the Week after making nine saves during a 1-0 win over Feirense.
Man United fans will be curious to see how Pereira develops as third choice keeper back at Old Trafford in the coming months.
