Memphis Depay trained with a smile on his face on Thursday despite his Manchester United future being up in the air.
The Dutch winger is linked with a move away from Man United on a permanent deal with Everton strongly interested as well as French side Nice who signed Mario Balotelli in the summer.
Memphis has hardly played at all under Jose Mourinho and I’d be more surprised if anything if he didn’t leave in January but whether that should be on a permanent deal is up for debate.
As far as I am concerned, we should either let Memphis leave on a loan deal or if he is to leave permanently, United have to include a buy-back clause because we don’t want another Paul Pogba situation on our hands if he does go on to fulfil his potential.
At this moment in time, Memphis has become another one of those players who has bags of talent but fails to fulfil it at United. That doesn’t look like it is going to change under Mourinho and a move away is certainly the right thing for his career but it’s such a shame as he arrived with so much promise from PSV Eindhoven.
If Memphis doesn’t leave in January then he faces another six months of frustration waiting in the shadows at United, so here’s hoping he can secure a good move – either on a loan or permanent deal.
