Manchester United fans were delighted with Wayne Rooney‘s impressive performance in the 4-0 victory over Reading in the FA Cup Third round.

Jose Mourinho made nine changes ahead of the game and re-introduced the Englishman at Old Trafford after recovering from a thigh injury.

It was clear from the opening minutes of the game that Rooney had returned with a motive and it was brilliant to see him claim a goal in the first-half to equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring record for Man United.

Here’s what fans on social media had to say about his wonderful performance.

Rooney was spectacular against Reading and could have easily picked up four or five assists had his team-mates finished his brilliant chances.

He’s been heavily criticised in recent months following his dip in form, but there are no doubting his achievements at United, and as a player that has won everything there is to win in football, Rooney will end his career as a United legend.

The Englishman has showcased he still has plenty to offer and Jose Mourinho will be pleased that he has returned from injury with such an impressive impact.
