Manchester United can put one foot into the League Cup final with a convincing win over Hull City at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
Jose Mourinho‘s men earned a semi-final place through wins over Northampton Town, Manchester City and West Ham United.
They will be firm favourites against a Hull side – currently with the worst goalscoring record in the league – rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.
With that in mind, here are three players that Mourinho must start.
Martial dazzled supporters with a spellbinding display against Reading last weekend. Any etchings of the confidence-sapped Martial from a few months ago were emphatically replaced with sheer ruthlessness on the left hand side. Nobody could stop the youngster when he surged forward, and Chris Gunter will have nightmares for at least a few more weeks. Man United fans will hope to see similar levels of destruction on Tuesday.
In a game that United need to win comfortably, including Carrick feels like a no-brainer. United’s record with the 35-year-old in the side says it all: 15 games, 13 wins, no defeats, 39 goals scored. His presence provides Mourinho’s men with an ideal platform from which to assert themselves, and Mourinho will want to see the Englishman feature at the axis of a comfortable win.
Ibrahimovic, having not missed a minute of action throughout December, was handed a rare rest against Reading last weekend. Zlatan – with ten goals in his last ten games – will be raring to go for a game that Mourinho will preferably want to win by a healthy margin.
