Ibrahimovic was left out of Man United’s squad for the EFL Cup semi-final with Hull City on Tuesday due to illness and played no part in the 4-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup at the weekend, leading to concerns over whether he would miss the Liverpool match.
However, Mourinho has allayed those fears by indicating Ibrahimovic will indeed return to the team this weekend.
When asked about Zlatan after United’s 2-0 win over Hull City and whether he’d miss Liverpool, Mourinho said: “No I don’t think so, I don’t think so.”
Without Ibrahimovic in the team, United struggled to hold the ball in attack against Hull. Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini provided the goals but Liverpool are a different kettle of fish to Hull, we’ll need our top scorer back and raring to go.
United head into the Liverpool game with nine consecutive wins and having not lost in 15 matches in all competitions. We’re in a rich vein of form but the real marker for whether we’ve progressed since the 0-0 at Anfield will be whether we can make that ten wins in a row with victory over Liverpool on Sunday and Ibrahimovic’s inclusion will be vital for that.
