Paul Pogba explains what Jose Mourinho told him to do at Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba claims Jose Mourinho told him not to listen to anybody following his arrival in the summer.

The Frenchman endured a mixed start in the Premier League and was heavily criticised, especially after becoming the world’s most expensive player.

However, Pogba has continued to find his feet at Old Trafford and has completely dominated the midfield play under the Portuguese boss.

Speaking about his situation, Pogba insists Mourinho handed him a confidence boost which has seen his form improve in recent weeks.

“He [Mourinho] told me not to listen to anybody, just be focused on the pitch and enjoy yourself. That is all I am doing,” he said.

“He talked to me. He made me very comfortable and confident.

“He said ‘you know how to play, do what you want’. He let me free on the pitch.

“He told me just to enjoy myself. That is it. That is all I need to hear from the manager.’

“I know Chelsea are at the top but this is the Premier League, you never know what is going to happen. You have to keep fighting and believing. Inside I feel we can still win the league.'”

United head into Sunday’s clash against Liverpool in sixth place, 10 points behind Chelsea and just three points off the top four ahead of Saturday’s fixtures.

Hopes are they can continue their unbeaten run against Jurgen Klopp’s men as they’ve already done a brilliant job of closing the gap on the top four following a shaky start in the Premier League.

Pogba has the belief United can build on their six-match league winning run and the supporters will be right behind him.
