Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester United have a good enough squad to win the Premier League title this season.
Man United have been in fine form in recent months, winning nine consecutive games across all competitions, which has seen them move forward in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.
However, they sit 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea as a result of their poor start to the campaign, but a win against Liverpool on Sunday will make a statement of intent.
Speaking about the situation, Redknapp claims Henrikh Mkhitaryan has played a vital role in the side’s resurgence.
“Mourinho’s demeanour has changed as a result [of the strong recent form]. When your manager is down and he looks like he’s not satisfied with things, the dressing room is not a happy place to be,” he said.
“He has taken the shackles off and got United playing the kind of expansive, exciting football the fans want to see. His mood is much better. It has transmitted to the team, and Mkhitaryan is a large part of that.
“The Liverpool game is huge. If United can win they will be just two points behind them. They won’t just be thinking about the top four, they will be asking themselves, ‘Can we go and win the league?’
“They have certainly got the squad for it. You’ve only got to look at their 4-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup. They were able to play a really strong team, whereas Liverpool had to play a lot of kids and drew 0-0 with Plymouth.”
United have been in brilliant form, but a win over Liverpool could take them to the next level as they may finally enter the top four.
Hopes are they can extend their unbeaten run over Jurgen Klopp’s men as it’ll be a massive confidence boost moving forward for the players.
