Henrikh Mkhitaryan sends a message to Manchester United supporters following Liverpool draw

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has sent a message of gratitude to Manchester United supporters for their support until the end of their side’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League.

Man United fell behind in the 27th minute after Paul Pogba‘s woeful handball gave James Milner a chance to put the visitors ahead from the spot.

Jose Mourinho‘s men came out fighting in the second half and grabbed a deserved equaliser through Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 84th minute.

And Mkhitaryan, speaking after the game, was quick to thank supporters for the atmosphere they produced as United chased an equaliser.

Picture the same situation – United trailing against Liverpool, looking to mount a late assault in front of the Stretford End – that we saw today, only with Louis van Gaal or David Moyes as manager. Old Trafford would have hardly made a noise, save for the occasional frustrated cry of “attack, attack, attack!” There was simply no belief that United could mount any meaningful late furore under the past two managers.

With Mourinho, on the other hand, you could tell that Old Trafford – despite sitting through a largely galling afternoon of football – sensed something was coming. This side, buoyed by a fresh, attacking mindset, is indeed capable of salvaging something out of nothing, and the game against Liverpool serves as a case in point.
