Thierry Henry insists Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho deserves credit for his decisions against Liverpool.
This resulted in Man United claiming one point from the clash, coming back from behind in a 1-1 draw, with the pair combining to find the back of the net in the closing minutes of the game.
Speaking about Mourinho’s decision-making, Henry believes the tactic was clear.
“Yes totally, I understand why they changed their approach,” he said.
“We know how Liverpool like to play, high pressure and there were examples with Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana, where they didn’t know how to deal with them.
“United started to play long and it became a bit more difficult for Liverpool because United became a bit more dangerous.
“It became a difficult game for Liverpool because putting that high pressure on suddenly becomes impossible.”
Liverpool’s diamond midfield trio completely nullified Michael Carrick‘s impact on the side, as they didn’t give him the time on the ball to help distribute the play.
Mourinho substituted Carrick off at half-time for Wayne Rooney and his tactics also worked, but it was Fellaini who made a true difference on the outcome.
