Manchester United youngster Joe Riley has joined League One leaders Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season.
He can operate in both defence and midfield – and could make his debut against Gillingham in Sky Bet EFL League One on Saturday after signing a deal on Tuesday morning.
Riley has been at Old Trafford since July 2013 and despite not receiving many first-team chances at Old Trafford, deserves the oppprtinty to develop as a player.
Here’s a look at Riley with Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder.

He completed 85 minutes on his comeback from injury for Man United’s second string at Liverpool on Monday, which was important as the Baldes were holding off on a deal until his fitness was assessed.
Here’s what Wilder had to say about the acquisition of Riley: “Joe is a young player who is comfortable playing on both the right or left and that versatility will be important to us. We are delighted to have him with us for the remainder of the season and happy that Manchester United have allowed him to further his development here.”
He’s risen through the ranks at Old Trafford and there’s no doubt that he’ll be hoping to make a name for himself under Wilder.
