Odds slashed on Antoine Griezmann joining Manchester United

by Leo Nieboer

Bookies have slashed the latest odds on Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann moving to Manchester United after it was revealed that the player had made a verbal agreement with the club.

It was recently reported by Miquel Delaney that, alongside a verbal agreement, Griezmann had agreed a weekly wage and a shirt number with Man United ahead of an impending move.

Atletico seemingly relaxed their stance on Griezmann staying at the Vicente Calderon after it was revealed that Diego Costa was keen on a move away from Chelsea.

Such a development has led to bookies slashing the odds on Griezmann moving to United, as shown by the Ladbrokes chalkboard:

United – 4/5

PSG – 4/1

Chelsea – 7/1

Real Madrid – 10/1

Man City – 10/1

Bayern Munich – 14/1

Juventus – 16/1

A Ladbrokes spokesman, when asked about the recent changes on the chalkboard, said: “The deal has been on the cards for months, but the latest odds suggest it’s now only a matter of time before Griezmann teams up with Zlatan and Pogba at Old Trafford.”

It is worth noting that, just a week ago, United were almost equal with Chelsea when it came to odds for Griezmann’s next destination, but confirmation that a verbal agreement has been reached has coaxed Ladbrokes into slashing all odds, suggesting that it is indeed a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ Griezmann arrives in Manchester.
