Manchester United monitoring Ajax’s Danish striker Kasper Dolberg – report

by Leo Nieboer

Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Ajax’s Danish striker Kasper Dolberg this season, according to reports.

The 19-year-old joined Ajax over the summer and quickly cemented himself as a first team regular through a series of promising performances under manager Peter Bosz.

He has netted 11 times in 26 appearances so far this season, including a hat-trick against NEC Nijmegen which was quickly followed by his international debut in November 2016.

And according to M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst, Jose Mourinho has sent scouts to monitor Dolberg this season.

It is worth noting that Dolberg was spotted by the same scout that, all those years ago, discovered Zlatan Ibrahimovic (and, um, Christian Eriksen). And when you watch the youngster play you understand exactly why: powerful, tidy on the ball, surprisingly quick, a clear eye for a goal and, most of all, brimming with confidence.

Not much was expected from Dolberg when he arrived in Amsterdam over the summer. He was, after all, a teenager coming from a notably weaker Danish league, and it felt as if first team opportunities would be hard to come by. But Dolberg, to his credit, has quickly asserted himself at Ajax, making him one to watch for the future.
