Michael Carrick: Manchester United can still win the Premier League title

Michael Carrick insists Manchester United can still win the Premier League title this season.

Man United currently sit sixth in the Premier League following their 1-1 draw against Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon and trail leaders Chelsea by over 10 points.

Although the side sit only five points off second-place Tottenham Hotspur, they will need a near-perfect finish to the season, while their rivals would have to suffer several slip-ups if there’s any chance of Man United taking the lead.

Speaking about the situation at Old Trafford, Carrick claims Man United can still close the gap.

“It is alive. We are a way off now, but we can never give up,” he said.

“We are always fighting right to the very end – that’s the only way we know.

“Anything can happen. There can be twists and turns. It is up to us to just focus on ourselves.”

United face Hull City at the KCOM in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final as Mourinho’s men already lead 2-0 ahead of the clash.

Hopes are they can continue their unbeaten run as there’s no doubt it’ll be a massive confidence boost as the players look to close the gap on the top four.
