Jose Mourinho sends a message to Manchester United fans

Jose Mourinho has hailed Manchester United’s superb travelling support following his side’s 2-1 second leg defeat to Hull City in the League Cup semi-final.

Around 4,500 supporters made the trip to Hull and provided a constant source of noise all evening, rattling out a new chant to the tune of “I’m into Something Good” alongside a series of classics.

They witnessed a decidedly lukewarm performance from their side, but they will make the journey back to Manchester looking ahead to Wembley after Paul Pogba‘s 66th minute goal did enough to send the visitors through to the final against Southampton.

And Mourinho, speaking after the game, had “no words” for Man United’s sensational away support.

This was a game that lacked much discernible entertainment, with a soggy, bitterly cold KC Stadium acting as an appropriate back-drop.

But United fans, packed into the corner of the ground, served as an incessant vocal presence all evening – a bubbling, bouncing heap of boozy humanity, providing an otherwise mute KC Stadium with a 90 minute soundtrack of songs that resoundingly echoed around the ground. A reminder that United’s away support emphatically eclipses that of any other Premier League side.

Mourinho’s men may not have turned up against Hull, but their supporters certainly did.
