Jose Mourinho will be determined to see his Manchester United side return to winning ways following defeat on Thursday against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round.
A second leg 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hull City in the League Cup semi-final was enough to send Mourinho’s men to Wembley but put an end to Man United’s 17-game unbeaten run.
Mourinho, speaking after the game, made it clear that he would rotate his squad for the game against Wigan.
And with that in mind, here is a potential XI ahead of Sunday’s contest with Warren Joyce’s side.
Mourinho has already confirmed that both Sergio Romero and Anthony Martial – reportedly unhappy with a recent lack of game time – will start on Sunday, and supporters will be keen to see how the Frenchman performs following a week packed with precariousness surrounding his position at Old Trafford.
Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo (deployed at left back) completely failed to impress against Hull, making a series of errors both on and off the ball. Supporters will hope to see Eric Bailly, who returned from an unsuccessful African Cup of Nations earlier this week, receive a chance to impress alongside Luke Shaw – seen in the match-day squad on Thursday for the first time since late November.
Antonio Valencia will also resume his place at right back after enjoying a well-deserved rest during the week.
