Rio Ferdinand has urged Jose Mourinho to sign Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale at Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese boss has been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid forward Griezmann, while Gareth Bale was a big target for David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
Man United already have plenty of players competing for spaces in the squad following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly in the summer, but Ferdinand believes United have to make a move for Griezmann and Bale if they become available.
“Manchester United have got the money, I’d go get both,” he said.
“They’re great players but I don’t think they’re comparable to be honest. They’re different players.
“Gareth could play anywhere across the front-line. He’d be effective anywhere, from the right to the left, central.
“Griezmann obviously (would play) as the number nine, but right now might be too early. Ibrahimovic is banging in goals.
“If they became available, Manchester United have to be in that.”
It comes without saying that if a player of that calibre becomes available United should definitely be amongst the clubs interested.
Both players would undoubtedly boost the squad and even though it looks unlikely, I never thought I’d see Ibrahimovic or Pogba in a United shirt, but here we are.
