The side endured a mixed start to life under the Portuguese boss, but are currently gunning for silverware on four fronts as Mourinho looks to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
Although Man United currently sit sixth in the Premier League, they are only four points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, and with the EFL Cup final, the Europa League campaign returning next month, and Wigan arriving for their fourth-round tie on Sunday, they’re on the right path.
Speaking about the success, Rooney claims Mourinho is the right man for the job at Old Trafford.
“I think that’s part of football,” he said.
“Obviously Manchester have had the stability of Sir Alex over the 26 years before, and I think over the last three or four years what they’ve been doing is trying to find the right one. And I believe they’ve found him.
“Just working every day and seeing how he wants to work, how he is setting the team up. There’s successes around the corner.”
United only qualified once for the Champions League during thier time under Louis van Gaal and David Moyes.
However, things are already looking up at Old Trafford, as players are installed with Mourinho’s winning mentality, supporters believe it’s finally shaping up.
