Manchester United fans were delighted to see Axel Tuanzebe receive his debut during their side’s 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round.
Jose Mourinho, speaking ahead of the clash with Warren Joyce’s side, noted that Tuanzebe was close to receive a chance to impress in the first team.
And the youngster finally made his long-awaited debut against Wigan, replacing Timothy Fosu-Mensah after 68 minutes at right back.
Man United fans were quick to express their enthusiasm at seeing another academy graduate feature in the first team.
Axel Tuanzebe becomes the first academy player to make his United debut under Mourinho. Well deserved.

This was a thoroughly well-deserved chance for Tuanzebe, a regular presence at Carrington with the first team this season, and it was one he grabbed with both hands.
It was clear from the start that, even at the age of 19, Tuanzebe boasted a real physical presence on the right hand side. His monumental stature and raw speed looked right at home alongside a series of established names and sturdy Championship stalwarts.
One would forgive Tuanzebe, experiencing his first ever run-out at the highest level, for a couple of stray passes and off touches, but the teenager looked comfortable all afternoon, happily shifting the ball around as Mourinho’s men cruised to victory.
