The 22-year-old returned to action on Monday night with Man United’s U23s but worryingly had to be taken off in the second half with an ankle injury leading to concerns over his fitness seeing as he’s only just come back from a month away at the African Cup of Nations.
However, Mourinho confirmed the good news that Bailly is fit to play and his injury wasn’t serious which is a real boost for United.

Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones have been excellent together but I am under absolutely no illusion that Bailly is by far and away our best centre-back at the club. Rojo and Jones’ purple patch hasn’t changed my opinion on that, nor should it change yours.
With that in mind, having him back as soon as possible is perfect news for United. He’s a beast in defence and we need that power and dominance in the middle, no questions asked.
United need three points against Hull and having beaten us 2-1 in the EFL Cup semi-final only last week, they will be brewing with confidence. Bailly will hopefully sure up our leaky defence and alongside either Rojo or Jones create a partnership which gives us a platform to build on for the rest of the season.
