It’s inevitably led to some questions surrounding his future and whether he could possibly leave Man United this summer but Martial has taken to Instagram to speak out with a simple message to fans:
Manchester is red, Martial is red. No words necessary and there really aren’t any words needed from a player who, in my opinion, stood up to the pressure with a superb performance against Wigan Athletic at the weekend. I felt he deserved a place in the starting XI to face Hull tonight but Mourinho unfortunately saw it differently, so all he can continue to do is work hard.
Martial is by some margin our best attacker down the left hand side but it almost feels like Mourinho is testing him, is pushing him in his own managerial style to help the Frenchman raise his game even more so. Not starting him after he got two assists against Wigan is a bold statement and one which Mourinho will want another positive reaction, I just hope Martial gets long enough on the pitch to provide that.
We’ve all got a soft spot for Martial after his wonderful debut season and we all know what he is capable of. We’ll also all admit he hasn’t played to the same standard under Mourinho every week and I think that’s the reason he’s focusing so much on getting him to improve. It worked with Mourinho, will it work with Martial?
