Antonio Valencia has been voted as Manchester United’s Player of the Month for January following another series of powerful performances at right back.
The Ecuadorian, who signed a contract extension with Man United last month, made five appearances in January, impressing most notably during the 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
Valencia was also nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award back in August, but the award went to Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling instead.
He will, however, claim the club’s Player of the Month award for this month after continuing to impress under Jose Mourinho.

The post-Fergie era signalled, for many players, a sudden dip in confidence and form, almost as if any iota of past brilliance has been emphatically stripped away. And such was the case with Valencia – a man either ridiculed by supporters or plagued by injury.
His evolution over the past year, however, has been nothing short of sensational. He has gone from a shaky, bit-part presence at right back to Mourinho’s unquestionable first choice, charged with the responsibility of providing both defensive solidity and impetus going forward – a task he has emphatically grabbed with both hands ever since the 54-year-old arrived over the summer.
