Henrikh Mkhitaryan insists Paul Pogba will live up to his world record £89m transfer fee during his time at Manchester United.
The Frenchman arrived at Old Trafford as the world’s most expensive player and has often been unfairly criticised even when he has performed well.
However, when his displays have dipped, his social media presence with adverts, clothing lines and emojis haven’t helped take the heat away from the situation and have just intensified the spotlight.
Speaking about Pogba’s career at Old Trafford, Mkhitaryan claims it’s not easy to adapt and believes Pogba will be fine as he has plenty of time at the age of 23.
“He has a very big potential and I know he is able to do it much better because he is able to do it and he has showed us quite a lot,” Mkhitaryan said.
“He needs a little bit more time to adapt because it’s not very easy to be worth £89m.
“For him, it is a little bit hard because he is still 23 years old and maybe he is thinking he needs to do more than he’s doing but I know with the manager he is going to find the solution to solve it and he’s trying to do it already.
“Maybe people are waiting for something extraordinary from him, some miracles, but everyone has to know he’s a football player, a human being, so he just has to play the way he can play and he will do better.”
While some of his showings have dipped, it’s only normal for a 23-year-old that is coming from a different league to have some issues with concistency.
He’s showcased glimpses of his talent and there’s no doubt that he’ll be able to take control of Jose Mourinho‘s midfield for over a decade.
