Henrikh Mkhitaryan has sent a message of gratitude to supporters after claiming the Man of the Match award following Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League.
The Armenian, deployed at No.10, dominated proceedings all afternoon with a series of spellbinding runs and smart touches as Man United pressed forward.
Mkitaryan’s performance – and perhaps the entire game – was hallmarked by a sensational solo-effort after 42 minutes, which saw the 28-year-old burst past the entire Leicester defence before rifling into the top corner.
The midfielder, voted as Man of the Match by both Sky Sports and MUTV, was quick to thank supporters for their recognition.
Thanks to the amazing fans ???????????? https://t.co/ITwM8StCBv

Remember when you used to play football with your friends as a child? Remember that small, shy kid who would turn up one week and you’d go: “What’s he doing here? He’s half our size; the kid’s going to get snapped.” But then it turns out that, actually, this kid is better than all of you combined, blessed with superb technical ability and that instant, infuriatingly slippery kind of pace that you can never really stop, and he just runs past you over and over again, barely changing his expression as he does so, just quietly ripping you – and indeed your misguided belief that, maybe, being a professional footballer could be a career path – to pieces.
That kid, ladies and gentlemen, is Mkhitaryan: diminutive, inconspicuous, somewhat shy, and yet explosive beyond belief. Supporters will hope to see the Armenian’s flair and raw effervescence inflict more damage in the coming weeks.
