Anthony Martial has been pictured in good spirits at Carrington ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Watford this weekend.
But Martial was quick to dispel these rumours, labelling these reports as false and insisting he was committed to his endeavours at Man United.
It will be a relief to United supporters that the noise surrounding Martial’s supposed unrest at Old Trafford has been emphatically dispelled once and for all.
Then again, for all the ambiguity experienced by those on the outside, one suspects that relations between the Frenchman and Mourinho never actually soured. The boss, following the 3-0 win over Leicester, noted that Martial – just like Mkhitaryan last year – could benefit from a period on the sidelines: a chance to reflect, ponder over the last few months and return with a fresh demeanour – one hopefully more akin to the effervescent force seen under Louis van Gaal last season.
