Ander Herrera would be very happy to begin talks with Manchester United over signing a new deal with the club.
Herrera joined Man United in 2014 from Athletic Club and has since gone on to establish himself as one of our best players after a real resurgence under Jose Mourinho following a stop-start Man United career under Louis van Gaal.
He’s a real fans’ favourite now at United and speaking about his current contract, which expires next summer, he opened the door for negotiations to begin about signing a new one.
“I have nothing to talk about,” he said. “Of course, if they want to talk with me, I will be very happy to do that. But so far, nothing.”
As far as I am concerned, get Herrera to put the pen on the dotted line as soon as possible. I see future captain material in the Spaniard; ever since his performance away at Anfield where he left everything on the pitch, he’s completely won me over as a player who genuinely has an affection for United in the same way as fans.
There haven’t been many players like Herrera at United in the last few years. The likes of Angel di Maria have come and gone without truly caring about the club but it’s different with Herrera, that’s why he’s become sort of a cult hero at the club.
Herrera will sign a new contract in a heartbeat if it was put in front of him and the quicker United do that the better. Plus, his deal runs out next summer anyway so there’s no time to waste – get to it Ed Woodward.
