Arsenal are prepared to trigger Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann’s £86m release clause during the summer transfer window, according to reports.
It was reported last month that a deal between Man United and Atletico Madrid had been agreed for Griezmann ahead of a summer move.
United, however, were quick to dismiss these reports as false soon after they begun to circulate, but speculation surrounding a potential deal continues to surge amongst pundits and supporters.
And according to OK Dario, Arsene Wenger is prepared to trigger Griezmann’s astronomical release clause in an attempt to lure the Frenchman to the Emirates.
Anybody with even the vaguest interest in football will tell you that Wenger, as a rule of thumb, never splashes big on one player. The Frenchman has never been an explosive buyer, but rather a pioneer, making subtle changes every year, ensuring that Arsenal’s groundhog day existence of attractive football and Champions League qualification remains uninterrupted.
News of a supposed move for Griezmann, therefore, comes as something of a surprise. But it seems as if Griezmann’s well documented relationship with Paul Pogba, alongside his life-long obsession with David Beckham and the (currently vacant) No.7 shirt, places United in the front seat when it comes to pursuing the 25-year-old.
