Speaking about his own injury earlier this week Jones intimated he would be available for Watford but Mourinho is taking no chances by keeping him out of the team.
On the other hand, Wayne Rooney is fit and available for selection having been left out of the match day squad to face Leicester City at the weekend due to illness.

Given Jones’ injury history, I’d say keeping him away from danger and not risking him is the smartest move Mourinho could make with him. There’d be nothing worse than bringing him back in too soon and causing further injury or aggravation.
As for Rooney, whether or not he will return to the starting XI remains to be seen but with Henrikh Mkhitaryan bang in-form after the Leicester game and Anthony Martial knocking on the door for an opportunity, I’d prefer him to start on the bench against Watford.
Injuries have, for the most part, not damaged United too often this season and heading into another weekend of Premier League football, Mourinho has the majority of his squad available.
