Manchester United vs Watford: Early confirmed squad news

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United face Watford in the Premier League on Saturday and here is the early confirmed squad news we know ahead of kick-off at 3pm.

Phil Jones isn’t available for Man United having not recovered in time from the injury which forced him off just before the hour mark against Hull City. Jones intimated he would be ready to return but Jose Mourinho decided not to risk him.

There hasn’t been any word from Mourinho on the fitness of Marcos Rojo who was replaced at half-time by Daley Blind but with Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly both available, United have cover at centre-back.

Wayne Rooney is fit to play after getting over some illness which ruled him out of the Leicester fixture. United’s captain could well return to the starting XI today but Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are both available, so there is competition for that place on the left flank. Michael Carrick can also play too having not featured against Leicester City as can Luke Shaw who continues to unfortunately be frozen out.

All in all, United’s squad looks in excellent shape and Mourinho has effectively a full roster to choose from. We’ll have the confirmed team news at 14:00 GMT ahead of kick-off at 15:00 GMT.
