David de Gea 7 – Had effectively nothing to do in the first half. Made a brilliant save early in the second from a Watford free-kick though.
Antonio Valencia 7.5 – He was creative and powerful going forward in that first half, Watford couldn’t stop him and his crosses weren’t simply fired in. He’s an absolute machine.
Eric Bailly 7 – I love his no nonsense defending. Even showed his ability going forward in the first half when he rounded a defender to get a cross in. Boss.
Chris Smalling 6 – Commanding at the back in the first half, hardly tested in either really.
Daley Blind 6.5 – Brought some overlapping runs to our attack which we haven’t had in a while. Good first half. Little bit less in the second but still played well overall.
Paul Pogba 8 – Started the game in a deep role. Won the ball back plenty, was also afforded good positions on the edge of the box to shoot. Think he can be very happy with that performance.
Ander Herrera 7.5 – Quietly commanding from Herrera. Led by example with his high pressure out of possession.
Juan Mata 8.5 – Brilliant first half from the Spaniard. Was the architect of all United’s attacking football in the first half and got a richly deserved goal for his efforts. Quieter in the second but he’d done the hard work.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan 8 – Thrived in the No.10 role. Played very well with Mata and Martial in the first half and continued in the second. Will feel he should have scored today though.
Anthony Martial 9 – Dancing feet. Right from the off Watford set up to make sure they doubled up on him. Second half he continued to torment Watford’s defence and scored a brilliant goal. Huge game for him.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic 5 – Missed a couple of tough opportunities in the first half, dropped deep to get more involved. Missed more in the second, not his best game but still added plenty to our attack as a whole.
Marcus Rashford 6 – Wasn’t given the ball too many times to run at the defence, mainly came on to give some more energy.
Marouane Fellaini 6 – Didn’t do anything wrong when he came on, which is pretty much what I judge him on these days.
