Saint-Etienne defender Florentin Pogba has spoken out about playing his brother Paul at Old Trafford on Thursday, making it clear that do what it takes to stop him.
Florentin, who joined the French side back in 2012, has made 19 appearances in all competitions so far this season under Christophe Galtier.
He will take on his younger brother for the first time on Thursday during Manchester United’s Europa League clash with ASSE at Old Trafford.
And Florentin, when asked about the sibling rivalry heading into the game, insisted that he would give everything on Thursday night.
“We’re both determined players,” he said. “Him and me. If he’s on a run, and I have to tackle him, I’ll tackle him. I’m not going to knock him out. But if I have to foul him, I’ll do it.”
For the footballing romantic, the idea of two brothers facing each-other in Europe is gold-dust, but the reality of the occasion will probably turn out to be somewhat underwhelming. Paul, as we all know, will look to inflict damage on ASSE’s back four from deep, launching passes all over the pitch and muscling his way out of any challenge that comes his way.
But who knows? Maybe a good old-fashioned brotherly scrap will occur at some point.
