The 21-year-old hasn’t been able to breakthrough into Mourinho’s first-team and, like Anthony Martial, is currently being challenged to prove himself good enough to play for Man United. It’s pretty hard to do that when you don’t get played at all but all Shaw can do is continue working as hard as possible in training and hope he features sooner rather than later.
Ahead of St.Etienne on Thursday, Shaw’s been involved in training as usual. Here’s a few pictures:
Blackburn on Sunday in the FA Cup might be where we see Shaw play but Mourinho isn’t going to tinker his defence unless he has to, so he could well still be left out of the team even then. It must be frustrating for him but he’s got to remain patient and work until his chance comes – when it does, he’s simply got to make the most of it.
I don’t think any fan is under any illusion that Shaw is the best left-back at the club but after that horror injury you could see against Wigan Athletic that his confidence was gone a bit but it still remains a concern as to whether Mourinho’s management style will work with Shaw as it did with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
