Manchester United fans have expressed their support for Eric Bailly in spite of the Ivorian picking up a red card during their side’s 1-0 win over Saint Etienne in the Europa League.
The 22-year-old, alongside Chris Smalling, treated supporters to another powerful display at the back, but his performance was overshadowed by two yellow cards in the space of three minutes.
Bailly will now miss the first leg of Man United’s last 16 Europa League tie but will remain eligible for any upcoming domestic features.
United fans, whilst frustrated at seeing their side go down to ten mine, were also quick to voice their support for the youngster.
Bailly will learn to avoid certain situation at times. He's got time.

Bailly will learn in time to be more refined in tackling. All raw at the moment. Early shower this evening

Eric Bailly often tackles like the 1950s hardman his name conjures. And you can't get away with it in 2017.

Anybody who has watched Bailly this season could tell that a red card was bound to come his way at some point this season. And for some, such a notion provides cause for concern. Why, after all, would you want to field somebody who, through virtue of their defensive style, could very easily find themselves having an early shower?
For me, however, this is a caveat to Bailly’s approach that I’m willing to happily except. He may be more prone than most when it comes to clocking up bookings, but this feels like a moderate concession when you consider the explosive impact made by the Ivorian this season.
