Paul Scholes believes Manchester United were brilliant in their victory over Saint Etienne in the Europa League Round of 32 second-leg clash.
Jose Mourinho played a strong team to face Christophe Galtier’s men even though Man United already had a 3-0 lead after the first-leg last week at Old Trafford.
Man United found the opening goal of the game as Juan Mata provided an inch-perfect cross around two defenders from out wide for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with the Armenian doing a brilliant job of making the most of the chance.
Speaking at half-time, Scholes reacted to Mata’s performance and Mkhitaryan’s injury.
“They’ve dominated the midfield and the other team haven’t even looked like scoring,” he said speaking to BT Sport.
“Mata was instrumental and was getting up into gaps where he’s been great, he’s got great control and a brilliant touch, he’s guided the ball perfectly around two players for Mkhitaryan’s first goal.
“Mkhitaryan’s problem looks like a hamstring injury, he’s been a big player for United and after he pulls up he goes on a sprint after but Mourinho was checking if he’s okay, it doesn’t look too bad but it’ll be around 2 weeks until he’s back.”
Hopes are Mkhitaryan’s problem is nothing serious because he’s been a standout performer this campaign and would have undoubtedly been in the starting line-up for the League Cup final against Southampton on Sunday if fit.
