Former Arsenal and France midfielder has claimed that Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann will “definitely” move to Manchester United over the summer.
It was reported last month that a deal between Man United and Atletico over the Frenchman had been agreed ahead of a summer move.
The club quickly labelled these claims as false, but speculation surrounding a potential move remains, with some reports suggesting that the Frenchman would only sign for United if they secure a place in the top four this season.
But Petit, speaking on Sky Sports earlier this week, was adamant that the 25-year-old would move to Old Trafford over the summer.
“I think he will come to Manchester United, definitely,” he said.
Whether Petit’s claim possesses any actual substance remains to be seen. It could be nothing more than just a hunch – a gut feeling, above anything, not too dissimilar from the gut-feeling I had back in the summer of 2014 that United would sign Arturo Vidal and Thiago.
The entire saga remains unclear, with conflicting reports surrounding Griezmann’s predicament emerging on a weekly basis. But one thing is certain: the Frenchman is approaching the zenith of his career, and Mourinho will know that he would serve as an ideal replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the next few years.
