Former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop believes that Luke Shaw has to leave Manchester United this summer.
The Englishman made a hugely promising start to the 2016/17, only to then fade away after being criticised by Jose Mourinho for his poor attitude back in November.
His last Premier League start dates back to Man United’s 0-0 draw with Burnley back in October.
And Hislop, speaking to ESPN, believes that the Englishman should move on after failing to enmesh himself into Mourinho’s plans at Old Trafford.
“I don’t see him fitting into Jose Mourinho’s plans and maybe it’s time to seek pastures new. From a Manchester United perspective, Luke Shaw is a highly-regarded player who they spent a lot of money on.
“He’s back from his horrific injury and he’s still only 21 years old.”
Shaw is currently going through the same treatment received by both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial. The 54-year-old has not, contrary to popular belief, given up on the Englishman: this is just his way of judging whether the Englishman has the mettle to succeed at this level.
The aforementioned pair knew this and immediately set about demonstrating their worth at Carrington, working even harder than normal until they finally got their chance. And they haven’t looked back since.
This is what Mourinho is now demanding from Shaw, and supporters will be keen to see whether he can reassert himself on the starting XI over the next few months.
