Manchester United were left with mixed reviews on Jesse Lingard‘s performance against Southampton in the EFL Cup final at Wembley.
The Englishman started on Wednesday evening as Jose Mourinho looked for an alternative with Henrikh Mkhitaryan left sidelined with an injury.
He scored another brilliant goal at Wembley as he found United’s second goal of the game, rising to the occasion in the, FA Cup final, EFL Cup final and the Community Shield.
However, fans could not completely enjoy his showing as he was let down by his shaky defending tactics.
Lingard loves Wembley! ❤️

Might as well just name Wembley after Jesse Lingard.

It’s a shame because Lingard has plenty to offer in getting the ball forward, creating chances, scoring goals and linking up play, but he’s often unfairly criticised even when he performs well.
United were very inconsistent on a whole against Southampton and singling him out as the root of the problem is unjustified as he attempted everything within his powers to help Mourinho’s men.
He was taken off for Marcus Rashford close to the end of the game and it’s clear that he was trying his best, as he almost changed the outcome of the game before he came off, forcing a brilliant save.
