Robbie Savage believes that Manchester United will sign Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann over the summer.
It was reported over the January transfer window that Man United and Atletico had reached an agreement ahead of a summer move for the Frenchman.
United were quick to label these reports as false, but speculation surrounding a potential deal continues to circulate.
It feels as if Mourinho, observing the youthful – yet incomplete – talent of Marcus Rashford and the timely brilliance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has pinpointed a need for someone that lies in between the pair in terms of where they are in their career. In other words: someone in the prime of their career.
And Griezmann, now with 20 goals this season, fits the bill perfectly. The Frenchman has spent the last year elevating himself from being a ‘good player’ to an unavoidable talent – someone capable of truly terrorising defenders over an extended period of time. 35 goals last season, a storming Euro 2016 campaign, and now further demolition. Mourinho will know that there is no better time to advance for the striker; this is the kind of signing that can take a team to the next level.
