Eduardo Inda: David de Gea has told friends he wants to leave Manchester United this summer

Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda has revealed that David de Gea has told close friends that he wants to leave Manchester United over the summer.

The Spaniard was set for a move to Real Madrid back in August 2015 but signed a new deal at Old Trafford after the proposed move fell through.

It has been reported in recent weeks that Madrid had reignited their interest in De Gea ahead of a potential summer bid.

And Inda, speaking on TV show El Chiringuito, has noted that the 26-year-old views life in Manchester as “hell” and wants to leave over the summer.

“Real Madrid are still thinking about one goalkeeper, who is De Gea, but Mourinho is determined not to let him leave United,” he said.

“De Gea believes that Manchester is hell because every day is black. The player has privately said that he wants to play for Real Madrid.”

Such marked disdain for life at Old Trafford serves as a stark contrast to remarks made by the man himself. Speaking back in January, De Gea noted: “I’m really happy to play for United and Spain and I’m feeling very strong on the pitch.”

Even Ander Herrera has weighed in on the De Gea saga, noting that “he is a calm person. He is not anxious or in a hurry to make a change… I don’t even consider the possibility that he could leave.”

Only time will reveal which side of the story is true, and supporters will hope that the testimony offered by De Gea himself and Herrera is indeed accurate.
