Andreas Pereira wants first-team football under Jose Mourinho at Man United

Andreas Pereira insists his loan deal at La Liga side Granada has helped him improve his game for when he returns to Manchester United.

He made 11 appearances under Louis van Gaal in 2015/16, but was sent on loan after Jose Mourinho claimed there would be limited chances on the first-team at Old Trafford.

Pereira has been incredible on loan, and while there were doubts over his progress when he was initially sent out, he’s proven he has the ability to thrive even when the rest of the team can’t perform as Granada battle against relegation from the country’s top division.

Speaking about his improvement, Pereira claims he’d love to fit back into the first-team at Old Trafford.

“When I came, I told myself: it’s not Manchester United. It’s a good club, a good league, but not the best in the world. At PSV we were always attacking and at United we always wanted the ball, then I came here and we’re defending. It’s hard to adapt, but it is good for me: I learnt a lot,” he said.

“I couldn’t defend at all. Now I’m a lot better. It’s a mental process and I would never have had this in Manchester. I know what it is now to have difficult games in a relegation team. I know what it is to have pressure for 80 minutes and then maybe in one counterattack need to score. Normally, it is the other way around at United.

“I have thought about it.

“I would love to go back and play at Old Trafford, but if they say: ‘Andreas, we would like to loan you out again,’ or ‘we don’t want you any more,’ I don’t know what I am going to do. But the focus now is Granada.”

His performances in Spain have definitely increased his chances of earning a place in Mourinho’s plans as United supporters have been watching his impressive highlights while wishing him the best.

However, his deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the 2017/18 campaign and while the 21-year-old has been considering his future, I don’t believe there’s anything to worry about as there’s a very bright future ahead.
