Luke Shaw and his representatives have been left concerned by Jose Mourinho as they believe he’s holding a grudge against the Englishman after he turned down a move to Chelsea in 2014, according to The Times.
Mourinho criticised Shaw’s performances earlier in the campaign and Paul Hirst, writing for The Times, claims he’s still upset Shaw turned down a move to Stamford Bridge. We were hoping to see him action against his former club Southampton in the EFL Cup final at Wembley last month, but he wasn’t even named as a substitute.
The Portuguese boss claimed he has no intentions of selling Shaw this summer as he has the ability to become a United great but leaving him out of action each week won’t sit well with Shaw.
He’s by far our best option at left-back and the fact that he isn’t on the pitch is very surprising because although others have performed well in his role, they haven’t been able to fill the gap his absence has left.
I’m really not sure how Mourinho sees Matteo Darmian as a better option at left-back to face Chelsea than Shaw but that’s happened on quite a few occasions now. We’re not privy to the whole story but sooner rather than later, and we’ve been saying that for a while, Shaw surely has to become United’s first choice. If not, something untoward is going on.
