Paul Pogba has been pictured working hard at Carrington ahead of Manchester United’s last 16 clash with FC Rostov in the Europa League.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan grabbed an important away goal for Jose Mourinho‘s men in Russia, latching onto a Zlatan Ibrahimovic ball in the first half, to hand Man United the advantage heading into the second leg.
Pogba was once again subject to widespread criticism from all sectors of the footballing world following his lacklustre performance during United’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter final, with many pointing out that the Frenchman looked jaded at Stamford Bridge.
But the 23-year-old was seen putting in the hard yards with the first team earlier today ahead of the clash with Rostov.
Perhaps there is a case for handing Pogba some time off to fully recharge the batteries, to rethink a few things and return to first team action with a fresh mindset. You could tell that, without Herrera as an engine room in midfield, Pogba was feeling every second of a midfield battle he was never going to win.
Then again, it is worth remembering that, when Pogba enters that unmistakeable midfield flow the entire team benefits, and United fans will hope to see the Frenchman return to his best against the Russian side on Thursday.
