Ahead of Manchester United’s game against FC Rostov tonight, here is the latest confirmed squad news.
Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney have both been ruled out through injury. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Jose Mourinho said: “Martial was injured for the Chelsea match. He couldn’t be selected for the Chelsea match and, if you are injured for the Monday night game, you’re injured for the Tuesday morning training session. And if you are injured for the Tuesday morning training session, it’s not because of today that you can be able to play on Thursday.
“So he’s out of my mind. I don’t think about him, we have the same players we had in the last match plus Ibrahimovic returning for the Europa League. Rooney is injured. He had some kick in his knee area, so he can’t even come out to the pitch. He stays inside the medical department.”
Thankfully, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is available to play so there shouldn’t be a problem with any potential striker shortage tonight. His three match ban is domestic so there are no issues with him playing European football and the same goes for Ander Herrera who is almost certain to start given he can’t play against Middlesbrough on Sunday.
Eric Bailly returns from suspension to boost Mourinho’s defensive options. Having also been rested for the Chelsea game on Monday, there should be no issues at all with fatigue for the Ivorian centre-back.
We’ll bring you the official team news when it is released at 19:05 GMT.
