The Englishman has struggled for game time in his favoured central striker role this season at Old Trafford with the big Swede leading the line since his arrival in the summer.
Speaking about his Man United future, Neville is hopeful Rashford can make his mark.
“It’s good that they’re not relying upon him in every single game, but in some ways he needs to stand up and take the opportunity,” he said.
“He is not getting overplayed, he is able to learn at a more calm pace.
“The bad is that at times maybe his form hasn’t been as good as it was last season. He needs to reproduce that standard he set last season.”
With Zlatan’s impressive form for United, it’s been impossible to drop him as he’s performed better than most expected with 26 goals across all competitions this campaign.
With him suspended for United’s next two Premier League matches, hopes are Rashford gets a run out again as he deserves it.
