Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann claims he’s very happy at Atletico Madrid but will not rule out the possibility of a move to a big club in the future.
The Frenchman moved to the Vicente Calderon from Real Sociedad in 2014 for £24m and has since become one of the most highly rated forwards in the world, with 58 goals in just 100 La Liga appearances.
He’s attracted interest from Europe’s elite, but United are said to be the club leading the race for his signature, ahead of the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Speaking about his future, Griezmann claimed a move could be on the cards.
“Why not?” Griezmann replied when asked about a possible move away from Atletico. “That’s the dream for every player – to be at big clubs like that, or Bayern Munich.
“But right now I don’t see myself at Barcelona or Real, or anywhere else.
“I have no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid, for Paris Saint-Germain, China, the USA, Russia, or elsewhere.
“He [Simeone] will leave one day, and in the summer I called him up to check if he was going to stay on.
“He told me of his plans for the season, that he wanted me to stay, and that made me feel happy.
“But we’re not inseparable.”
Many believed Griezmann’s future at the club would be dependant on whether or not Diego Simeone stays, but he has confirmed they aren’t inseparable.
It seems like he’s happy at Atletico and is glad of the fact that Simeone wants him to stay but with Jose Mourinho lurking in the wings it’ll be interesting to see how the situation plays out.
