Manchester United fans wished Bastian Schweinsteiger all the best as he completed his move to MLS side Chicago Fire.
He agreed a one-year deal and will leave immediately once he’s completed a medical and his visa has been approved after failing to feature in any league games this season under Jose Mourinho.
The German midfielder quickly made himself a fan favourite since his switch to Old Trafford in 2015 and although he hasn’t played much since then, it was brilliant to see what he was capable of during his short spell.
Here’s a look at what fans had to say on social media.
Sad to see a legend like Bastian Schweinsteiger leave Manchester United and the Premier League. A real shame that we didn't see his best.

Not overly fussed about Bastian Schweinsteiger's departure. Half decent player, signed at the wrong time. Wish him all the best in the MLS.

Thank you for everything Basti! Will miss you ????

Good for Schweinsteiger. Not sure the squad could be less affected by a player leaving tho. Was almost not there. Another 200k p/w freed.

In hindsight, Schweinsteiger was the right player at the wrong time. That's five of Van Gaal's 10 United signings gone already.

It was the right player but he was just signed at the wrong time and as he enters the latter stages of his career he’s deserves to be able to play to his abilities, which will be possible out in America.
There are others who performed better in the team and had more to offer, but the main factor would have been his wages which were around £200,000-per-week.
Hopes are he can continue to perform and continue to build on his impressive career during his time at Chicago Fire.
